A Journey Through…Bulgaria

Bulgaria is an amazing blend of glorious history, breath-taking nature, and unique culture at the crossroads between Europe and Asia. This blessed territory has a land cultivated ever since the dawn of human civilization. The Bulgarians founded a new state (681), in the 9th century adopted Christianity. The brothers Cyril and Methodius created and disseminated the Slavic alphabet. From Bulgaria it was spread to all Slavs.

Bulgaria occupies a relatively smSnarea but is nevertheless distinguished by generous and beautiful nature. The Bulgarian territory includes awesome mountains: Pirin (Part of The World Natural Heritage), the most majestic and highest mountain in The Balkans - Rila (2925 m), the Home of Orpheus - the mysterious Rhodopes. Bulgaria possesses long coastline and golden beaches, over 500 mineral springs, many natural phenomena.

The Bulgarian lands have been inhabited by various tribes that have developed a rich and varied culture. The innate aesthetic sensitivity of Bulgarians creates art from every kind of material. The National Revival was a period of accelerated development and national integration. It is remarkable for its characteristic architecture which can still be observed in old towns, the rich literary heritage that inspired the Bulgarian struggle for independence. The great masterpieces of architecture and exquisite art were created.
