Varna, acknowledged as the Queen of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, and also referred to as the summer capital of the country, is the third-largest city in Bulgaria - pop. 326,207, after the capital Sofia (pop. 1,233,817), and Plovdiv (pop. 350,492), and is the chief town of an industrial and agricultural district, as well as an important commercial center, containing one of the largest Bulgarian ports.
