TABULA IMPERII ROMANI, sheet K – 35/2 Philippopolis is the Bulgarian contribution to the
European project for preparation of a map of the Roman Empire (composed of 56 sheets in
scale 1:1 000 000). Sheet K – 35/2 Philippopolis comprises approximately 75,000 sq. km оf the
territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, which is circa three-quarters of the country’s area.
Under the guidance of Prof. Rumen Ivanov, a team of 50 scholars – archaeologists, historians,
philologists, ethnologists and cartographers – describe more than 1,600 modern settlements with
more than 8,000 Thracian, Hellenic, Roman and Late Antique sites. The chronological range is
from the beginning of the 1st c. to the beginning of the 7th c. CE.
The edition consists of a book plus DVD. The book comprises the articles in alphabetical order and the accompanying reference information in the form of supplements and indexes. The book’s companion DVD contains illustrations to the text – 23 color maps and 190 graphics and reconstructions of some of the archaeological sites presented in the articles. The interactive use of the images is enhanced by a software product which allows geographic and settlement
categorization.
TABULA IMPERII ROMANI, лист K – 35/2 Philippopolis е българският принос в Европейския проект за подготовка на карта на Римската империя (съставена от 56 листа в мащаб 1:1 000 000). Лист K – 35/2 Philippopolis обхваща приблизително 75,000 кв. км от територията на Република България, което е около три-четвърти от общата територия на държавата.
Под ръководството на проф. Румен Иванов екип от 50 учени – археолози, историци, етнолози и картографи – представят повече от 1,600 съвременни селища с повече от 8,000 тракийски, гръцки, римски и късноантични обекти. Хронологичният обхват е от началотот на І-я – до началото на VІІ-я век.
Книгата е съставена от книжно тяло и DVD. Книжното тяло е композирано от статии, подредени в азбучен ред, и допълнителна информация под формата на приложения и индекси. Придружаващото DVD съдържа илюстративния материал към текста – 23 цветни карти и 190 графики и реконструкции на някои от археологическите обекти, представени в статиите.
